Velicham to hold fifth mega community gathering in April

Doha: Velicham, a comprehensive public learning programme for learning Al-Qur’an, has decided to organise the learners’ get-together in April, said the reception committee after a meeting held at Zaitoon Restaurant in Doha.

The session was opened by Dr Abdul Ahed Madani, the Chairman of Velicham. He explained that the mega community event will be staged at an appropriate venue with a variety of activities, including Qur’an Fest, Competitions, Public Lectures, and programmes for women and children.
An exclusive session will be held for ‘The Light’ international community, the English-speaking counterpart of ‘Velicham’, which began a year ago.

Velicham started in 2011 and has concluded three rounds in 12 years with thousands of learners joining the course. Velicham also plans to launch the 4th series in the event.

The reception committee comprising elite Muslim expat Keralites, inspired by the holy Qur’an, anticipates that the event would host more than 5,000 delegates.

Dr. Mohammed Essa of Ali International was chosen as the Chief Patron, and E P Abdurrahman as Chairman of the mega event. The finance committee is chaired by AP Azad of Seashore.

K. Babu Sahib Feroke, Ashraf Grand Mall, AP Khaleel, Dr Samad, Zubair Wakra are vice chairpersons for various wings. General Secretary of Qatar Indian Islahi Centre Muneer Salafi is the General Coordinator and the President, NKM Akbar Qasim, is the Chief Coordinator, assisted by Mahroof Karipp as Coordinator and Ajmal as Convener.

A panel consisting of Mohammed Unni Olakara, Abdul Kareem MES, TK Aboobacker, SAM Basheer, AK Usman, Shafi Haji, Zubair Al-Zaman Exchange, Shanavas Lulu, Muqtar, RP Kunhammed, Shoukath Jaleel, Saleem Nalakath, Mustafa Saudi Hyper, Abdul Sathar, Abdul Ahad Mahi, and Anwar INCAS were nominated as patrons.

The reception committee meeting was welcomed by Zubair Wakra, while Mohammed Ali CM presented the budget. Muneer Salafi explained the wings’ operations and activities. Abdul Hadi began the function with recitation of holy Qur’an and LYC President Ajmal proposed a vote of thanks.
