The Ministry of Municipality has closed five food establishments, including two restaurants and a bakery, in Al Wakra, Al Shamal and Al Shahaniya for violations of regulations, the Ministry has said.

The action was taken during three days from September 10 to 12, and in all cases, the reason for action was ‘food prepared in unsanitary conditions’, according to the ministry.

The closure was for a period of three to 10 days.

The Ministry of Municipality continues its efforts to monitor food establishments and institutions and punish violators of Law No. 8 of 1990 regarding the regulation of human food control.

The duration of the closure is determined by the competent municipality director according to the type and severity of the violation as stipulated by law, as the duration of the closure does not exceed 60 days at a time, and the closures are repeated with the repetition of violations.

It is not permissible to open the closed shop or carry out the activity or carry out maintenance during the entire period of closure, and violating this entails criminal liability.
