TJSV Thrissur crowned champions in the 14th edition of QIFF

Doha: TJSV Thrissur were crowned the champions of the 14th edition of Qatar Indian Football Forum 2023 (QIFF) at Al Ahli Stadium Doha on Friday.

The final was played between the top two teams of the tournament TJSV Thrissur and FOK Kozhikode. The TJSV scored two goals and FOK couldn’t find their pace and trailed the game 2-0. More than 10,000 fans witnessed the thrilling match.

Eight teams participating in this tournament came from the districts of Thrissur, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Palakkad, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Kasargod.

It was a brilliant game of football as both the teams showcased their talents and the stadium erupted with a lot of emotions.  

QIFF organized this edition after a three-year gap due to Covid 19 and the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year. The inter-district tournament for Kerala expatriates is a unique six-week long tournament and stands out as one of the exceptional football events in Qatar.

It has evolved into a key sporting activity for Indian expatriates.

A huge number of fans turned up to watch the tournament’s exciting closing ceremony. The event was graced by the presence of Nassar Al Shehwani, first lieutenant from the Ministry of Interior, Sachin Dinakar, Ambassador’s representative from the Embassy of India, Sharaf P Hameed CEO of City Exchange, E.P Abdurahiman President of Indian Sports Council, U. Sharafali President of Kerala Sports Council, Mohamed Easa, President, QIFF, Mohammed Shameen General Secretary QIFF, and all the dignitaries of QIFF.

The chief guests unveiled the trophies for the winners and runners-up and presented individual prizes from QIFF to the kids of Ideal Indian School and MES Indian School for their outstanding performance in the bronze-winning CBSE Cluster meet in India.
