Sweet, sumptuous mangoes draw large croweds at Souq Waqif

The Indian Mango Festival, which will run until June 8 at the sprawling Eastern Square of Souq Waqif, is attracting large numbers of people.

This event, celebrating the rich and diverse varieties of Indian mangoes and mango-based products, promises a unique experience for all mango enthusiasts.

Over 20,000kg mangoes have been sold on the first two days, as per the sales figure shared by Souq Waqif on its social media accounts. 

The festival (also known as Indian Hamba) was officially inaugurated on Thursday by Indian Ambassador, H E Vipul, and Nasser Rashid Al Naimi, Managing Director of the Private Engineering Office (PEO) in the presence of Ibrahim Fakhroo, Director of the Department of Protocol at MOFA.

The inauguration also saw the participation of ambassadors from Algeria, Sweden, Singapore, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Guinea, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, South Sudan, Niger, Peru, along with senior diplomats and Qatari dignitaries.

Visitors to the festival can explore a wide array of mangoes from various regions of India, including the renowned Alphonso, Kesar, Banganapalli, Totapuri, Neelam, Mallika, Malgova, Langada, and many more.
The festival also features traditional mango dishes, jams, juices, ice creams, and mango-based delights, bringing a slice of Indian culture to the heart of Doha.
The exhibition runs until June 8 from 4pm to 9pm daily.
