Souq Waqif has joined the list of air-conditioned open areas in Qatar, Al Sharq reports.

As temperatures rise during summer, many people prefer to take refuge in indoor air-conditioned places for shopping and entertainment, rather than open areas that are exposed to high temperatures and high humidity.

In a welcome development, Souq Waqif has now joined the list of air-conditioned open areas after the Souq Waqif management opened the first project to cool the corridors inside the market, which is considered one of the most prominent and famous tourist destinations in the country, and is visited by tourists throughout the year, the report adds.

The management has cooled one of the roads located opposite Al Bidda Hotel and the market square, with a length of approximately 400 metres.

With the cooling, Souq Waqif now joins several other open air-conditioned areas where temperatures reach the temperature of shopping malls or less.

Among the open air-conditioned areas in Qatar is Al Gharrafa Park. “Al Gharrafa Park is the world’s first air-conditioned park and is a great place to visit for a blissful retreat amidst all the luxury and natural beauty,” the report says.
