QGET launches Grow Your Green Food initiative

DOHA: The Qatar chapter of alumni organization for Thrissur Government Engineering College, QGET, celebrated Qatar Environment Day 2025 with an inspiring green initiative, “Grow Your Green Food (GYGF).”
Tomy Varkey, President of QGET, inaugurated the celebrations, marking a commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness, at their community farming area, featuring a range of meaningful programs.
“May the celebrations and activities of Environment Day inspire the new generation to love the earth, realizing that those who nurture the soil are the ones with gentle minds. It is this gentleness that can combat the cruelty spreading in society,” QGET’s Treasurer Varghese said.
Children who participated in the event joyfully launched the Environment Day celebrations by planting saplings, symbolizing hope for a greener future.

Members of GYGF and QGET office bearers — Greeshma, Gopal Rao, Nischal P.G., Johnson Baby, Kevin Johnson, Ashlyn Johnson, Mohideen, Rasheeda, Pradosh, Irshad Shafi, Sajeev Kumar V K, Priya Johnson, Robin Jose, Lovebin, Aparna, Rajesh and Abhilash — led inspiring programs to foster environmental awareness.
Celebrations were held under the guidance of GYGF General Convener Dias Thottan.
