Qatar Red Crescent and EAA to distribute meals in Gaza

Doha: The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has commenced the implementation of a relief project in the Gaza Strip in partnership with Education Above All Foundation (EAA).

The relief project aims to distribute ready-to-eat meals to the affected and displaced people, as well as persons with disabilities in the Gaza Strip, QRCS said in a statement Saturday. It pointed out that the project costs over $503,000, of which $100,000 is a contribution from EAA.

The QRCS’s representation office in Gaza supervises the implementation of the aforementioned project which comes as an urgent relief aid for the affected people in the strip through providing life-saving assistance, creating new job opportunities for young people in the region and supporting the local economy through enhancing small-scale projects, the statement added.

The statement pointed out that the ready-to-eat meals have been heretofore distributed to 61,750 beneficiaries in several areas north and south of the Gaza Strip within the project that intends to distribute winter blankets to the affected people in shelter centers for displaced people, in addition to providing mental health and psychosocial support services.
