Qatar receives first Bahraini envoy since 2017 Gulf crisis

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs receives credentials of Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghatam

DOHA: Qatar has received Bahrain’s first ambassador to the country since the end of the 2017 Gulf crisis, marking a new chapter in relations between the two countries.

Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi received on Sunday a copy of the credentials of Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Qatar Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghatam, Qatar News Agency reported.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs wished the Ambassador success in his duties, assuring him of providing all support to advance bilateral relations to a closer cooperation in various fields. 

Bahrain’s King H M Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa had on June 12 appointed Al Ghatam as the country’s ambassador to Qatar. And on the same day,  Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani had appointed Sultan Al Khater as Doha’s new ambassador to Manama.

The appointment of ambassadors will take Qatar-Bahrain relations to new heights at a time when the region is facing several challenges.
