Qatar fifth top Arab country in the world in importing air-conditioners

Air conditioners are considered essential for any indoor or outdoor place in Qatar and the Gulf countries, to the point that Qatar has begun to air-condition streets, parks and public walkways in light of the rising temperatures in the summer.

The State of Qatar ranked 5th in the Arab world in importing air conditioners, worth about QR 1bn (equivalent to $263m) annually, according to an American trade website, Al Sharq reports.

The UAE came in the first place in the Gulf and Arab world in importing air conditioners, with a value exceeding $1.43bn, followed by Saudi Arabia with a value of $1.34bn annually, in an attempt to reduce the heat.

According to the same source, the 10 top Arab countries importing air conditioners are:

  1. UAE: $1.43bn
  2. Saudi Arabia: $1.34bn
  3. Iraq: $1.06bn
  4. Kuwait: $1bn
  5. Qatar: $263m
  6. Oman: $231m
  7. Egypt: $216m
  8. Morocco: $211m
  9. Algeria: $118m.
  10. Libya: $107m
