Ninth Local Dates Festival records 240 tonnes in sales

The 9th Dates Festival at Souq Waqif has sold 240,172 kg of dates since its opening on July 23. The festival concluded on Saturday.

The sales on Saturday, the last day of the festival, was 23,341 kg, the Souq Waqif authorities said on social media. Hundreds of people flocked to the festival every day as dates from over 100 local farms are offered at reasonable prices.

The varieties on offer included Khalas, Barhi, Nabt Sayf, Lulu, Raziz, Shishi, Sukkari, Khanizi, and other varieties.
