MoI urges public to report begging incidents through Metrash2

NT Bureau

Doha: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has called on citizens and residents to report incidents of begging, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Ministry, in a social media post, reiterated that begging is against the law and a “bad habit rejected by religion and society.”

Ministry’s warning comes as begging becomes more prevalent during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Anti-Begging Section of the Criminal Investigation Department also conducts inspections and drives to round up beggars who exploit people’s compassion. The Ministry also said that any kind of Zakat or donation should be made only through official charitable organizations.

“Begging is an uncivilized behaviour. Help us by reporting begging incidents,” the Ministry announced on social media.

To report begging, people have been urged to use Metrash2. Contact the Anti-begging section on the app (Communicate with Us) or by calling the numbers: 2347444 / 33618627.
