Ministry warns against letting children sit in front seats

The Ministry of Interior has reminded motorists that children under 10 are prohibited from sitting in the front seat of moving vehicles, as per Article 55 of the Traffic Law. Violating this rule may lead to imprisonment from one week to one year or fines between QR 3,000 and QR 10,000.

The law also prohibits using handheld devices or watching videos while driving. According to a previous publication by the Ministry of Interior, this violation can be reconciled and a traffic violation of (500) riyals can be imposed, with the aim of reminding parents of the importance of those under the age of ten sitting in the back seats of the car.
