Shops warned against violating quality standards

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, represented by the Commercial Fraud and Counterfeiting Department, held an inspection campaign at gold shops and took samples of gold bars to examine their purity and compliance with specifications and standards.
The Ministry explained, through its account on X platform, in a video clip, that the Consumer Protection and Combat-ing Commercial Fraud Department received a customer complaint about a product that did not conform to the state’s standard specifications, Al SHarq reported.
Accordingly, the ministry organized an inspection campaign at gold shops and a number of random samples of gold bars were taken to examine the quality and extent of their conformity with specifications and standards.

The Ministry noted that it is prohibited to sell, display, promote or advertise any goods that are adulterated or spoiled.
The product is considered adulterated or spoiled if it does not conform to the approved standard specifications, and is unfit for use, or has expired, the Ministry said.
“Whoever violates any of the provisions stipulated shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years and a fine of not less than 3,000 riyals and not more than one million riyals, or one of these two penalties.
