Ministers of Education, Sports and Youth underline significance of summer centres activities

HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi hailed the diverse activities of summer centers and the engagement of students with their peers in those centers, which would definitely promote the students’ positive behaviors and advance their various skills and talents.

This came during Her Excellency’s inspection visit to the summer center at Khalifa Secondary School for Boys to review the activities and programs offered by the summer centers to students during summer vacation in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

Her Excellency lauded the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) and the Ministry of Sports in operationalizing these centers, highlighting that the sublime objective of these centers is to encourage students to invest in their leisure time during summer vocation to optimally engage in beneficial activities.

For his part, HE Minister of Sports and Youth Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani underlined the importance of summer activities and their role to help young people flexibly handle the current requirements and diligently address the challenges, affirming that youth institutions in Qatar are proud of their records that abound with many supporting tools for the Qatari youth and empowering them through a social approach that includes them in the society and offers training opportunities, as well as support for summer and public activities.

The summer centers commenced their activities on Jul.1 and featured 1109 participants from both genders in the first week activities, held in seven public schools. The events included a multitude of programmes that best suited their diverse age groups, foremost of which were intellectual, physical, kinetic, art, social, awareness-raising, and technological activities.

In addition, such activities help build students’ balanced personalities and hone their wide-ranging skills, in addition to training them on engagement, shouldering the responsibility and serving the society.

The school centers were equipped with highly trained administrative and educational crews to efficiently operate them during their full swing from Jul.1 to Aug. 8. Each center accommodates 300 students daily for 4 hours, from 9 AM to 1 PM, aged between 6 and 18 years old.
