Men, women face action over Mixed Sport Challenge

DOHA: A group of men and women have been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal proceedings over unlawful participation in a mixed sports activity, the Ministry of Interior has said on social media.
The MoI took action after pictures of the event were circulated on social media, and images of the winners were also circulated.

“(We are) referring to what has been circulated in some social media of a group of people – men and women – announcing a mixed challenge between them in a sports game accompanied by an announcement of the winners of the challenge at each stage,” The MoI said in a post on Instagram.

The Department of Combating Economic and Electronic Crimes summoned all concerned parties involved in that challenge regarding the violation of social principles and values in society.

Accordingly, they were referred to the Public Prosecution to complete the procedures in this regard, the post said.

The Ministry action won praise on social media with many appreciating the Ministry’s measures.
The Ministry of Interior said it will take all necessary measures to preserve social values and traditions and maintain order in the society.

“Thank you and we appreciate your efforts in deterring bad behaviour and keeping our community safe as we used to be,” an Instagram user said.
