KMCC organizes table talk on ‘communal resistance against drug disaster’

DOHA: As part of the ongoing awareness programs being conducted by the KMCC Qatar State Committee under the theme ‘Drug Disaster – Communal Resistance Against Drunkenness,’ a table talk was organized with the participation of representatives from various organizations in Qatar.

The discussion highlighted multiple factors contributing to the alarming spread of drug addiction, including modern lifestyle changes, the increasing isolation of family members, societal extravagance, the influence of negative heroism through media, a decline in moral values, excessive stress, and self-indulgence.

Participants put forward several effective and innovative strategies to curb drug abuse and the drug trade. Key suggestions included legislative measures to regulate the production, distribution, and use of narcotics; integration of anti-drug awareness programs into the agendas of religious, political, and cultural organizations; and establishment of effective de-addiction centers

KMCC Qatar State President Dr Abdul Samad presided over the event, while ICC President AP Manikandan inaugurated the session. Panakkad Syed Hamidali Shihab Thangal delivered the congratulatory address. The discussion was moderated by SAM Basheer, with contributions from representatives of several leading expat organisations in Qatar, including Tajuddin Chirakuzhy (Vice President, Incas Qatar Central Committee), Shamsir Arikulam (General Secretary, Samskruthi Qatar), Khalil Parid (Chief Coordinator, Unity Qatar), Muhammadali Qasimi (Advisory Board, Kerala Islamic Center), Sreekala Jinan (Vice President, Qatar Indian Authors Forum), R. Chandramohan (President, Pravasi Welfare Qatar), Muneer Salafi (Advisory Convener, Qatar Indian Islamic Center), John Gilbert (Member, OICC Global Committee), Mujeeb Madani (Secretary, Qatar Indian Islamic Center), K.T. Faisal Salafi (President, Qatar Kerala Islamic Center), Kafeel Puthanpally (Risala Study Circle), K. Hubaib (Senior Correspondent, Indian Media Forum, Gulf Media), Fazalur Rahman (News Coordinator, Radio Malayalam 98.6) and RJ Achu (Radio Suno) and others.
