The Kenyan government is set to launch a nationwide recruitment drive to fill 5,000 job vacancies in a Qatari company, Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has announced.
Speaking in Kisumu, Mutua said the recruitment will begin on Wednesday, November 20, and will take place across all 47 counties, Kenyan media reported.
Prospective candidates have been instructed to report to their county headquarters and TVET institutions, where the recruitment activities will be conducted. The government has also arranged for officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Immigration Department to be present at these venues. These officers will assist with fingerprinting for certificates of good conduct and help with preliminary passport applications to streamline the process.
This new recruitment effort follows an earlier phase in Nairobi, where 8,000 positions were announced. Over 3,000 Kenyans were successfully selected during that drive, with many now preparing to depart for Qatar. The upcoming recruitment drive aims to fill the remaining 5,000 slots, offering another opportunity for Kenyans seeking employment abroad.
Mutua highlighted the government’s commitment to providing job opportunities for Kenyans in the international market, which in turn could boost the country’s economy through increased remittances.
