DOHA: Ideal Indian School (IIS) and Shantiniketan Indian School (SIS) have started their afternoon shifts, both schools said in separate press releases.
The evening shift at IIS started on Sunday, welcoming students from all grades. “The shift will run from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and has already seen significant demand from the community,” the school said.
“We are happy with Ideal Indian School’s decision to start an evening session. It offers quality educa-tion for our children at a convenient time and I’m grateful that my child has been admitted to such a reputable institution,” one parent said.
Addressing the school assembly, Principal Shaik Shamim Saheb welcomed the new students and em-phasised the school’s commitment to delivering an excellent learning experience.
“The afternoon shift at SIS represents a strategic effort to optimize available resources, allowing the school to accommodate more students. This additional time slot is especially beneficial for families who struggled to find spots in the existing morning programs, as it aligns with the standard curriculum and quality standards upheld during the morning sessions,” the SIS said.

To ensure a smooth transition, SIS held an orientation program for parents at the start of the new aca-demic year. The session covered the structure, guidelines, and expectations for the afternoon shift. During the orientation, Najeeba, Fathima Rizna, and Faheema discussed academic discipline, assess-ment structures, and the role of parents, respectively, with a packed audience of parents.
The programme, anchored by Firos Koovery, concluded with speeches from Principal, Rafeeq Rahim, and Operations Manager, Abdul Hameed.
