The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) has warned of the consequences of removing the fences surrounding meadows, stressing that this act contravenes the law and holds perpetrators to account.

In a statement, MOECC indicated that these fences do not hinder the access of citizens and residents to meadows, but are intended to protect their environmental equilibrium, thereby offering the opportunity for all to enjoy the beauty of landscape in a responsible and sustainable way.

The project of enclosing meadows is part of the ministry’s efforts to protect these areas from encroachment, prevent vehicular access and conserve environmental and natural legacies to ensure their endurance for the generations to come, the statement reads.

In addition, MOECC urged visitors of land areas to enjoy their time at meadows and ensure their protection through refraining from dumping waste and or igniting fires directly on the ground.

It stressed that the public should cooperate in adhering to the enforced measures of environment conservation, emphasizing the importance of reporting any potential transgressions by calling the unified communication center at 16066.
