Embassy warns Indians against fake messages on school admissions

The Embassy of India in Qatar has issued an advisory to the Indian community regarding a fraudulent message circulating in the name of the embassy, which claims to offer assistance with school admissions for Indian students in Qatar.

In a statement released on its official account on X, the Embassy said that they have not issued any such message and warned the public against responding to or entertaining such communications.

“It has been brought to the notice of the Embassy of India, Doha, that a fake message/press release, using Embassy’s name regarding admissions in Indian schools in Qatar is being circulated among the Indian community in Doha,” the embassy said.

“Embassy of India, Doha, clarifies that the Embassy has not issued any such message or press release. It is advised that members of the public should not entertain any such message and should not reveal any personal information in response.”

Such matters may be brought to the notice of the Embassy by email at cul.doha@mea.gov.in or edu.doha@mea.gov.in.”

Sources at the embassy said they had no clue about the source of such fake messages. “The fake message was asking for personal details regarding school admission. We are informed that the fake message asked for the details of the student, father, telephone number, which class and school admission is required, etc,” the source said.

This information could be misused and Indians have been asked to be vigilant and not share this sensitive information with unverified sources.
