A town near Kolkata in India has decided to create a Durga Puja pandal based on the theme of Katara Towers (also known as Crescent Tower) in Doha, Indian media have reported.

Durga Puja is the biggest festival in the Indian state of West Bengal.

“Less than four months remain for the most coveted festival of the Bengali-speaking diaspora, Durga Puja. All over Bengal, Durga Puja is celebrated with much pomp and fare, with the puja pandals serving as the main attraction of the entire festival. Some locations are famous for creating replicas of architecture of global fame. In 2022, Kalyani’s ITI More grabbed eyeballs when they built a pandal on the lines of Malaysia’s famed Twin Towers.

This year, Jirat Adi Barowari is all set to take your breath away with Qatar’s ‘Moon Tower’ based Durga Puja pandal on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of their Durga Puja celebrations,” India’s News 18 reported.

The pandal will measure 90 feet in height and 120 feet in width, with an estimated construction cost of Rs 19 lakhs. Inside the mandap, the visitor’s path will be paved with crystal stones, the report said.
