The Doha campus of Savitribai Phule Pune University from India has around 450 students, with international students from 16 countries, and is planning to expand the courses it’s currently offering, Prof Dr. Suresh Gosavi, Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University, India, has said.

The Doha campus was established three years ago as the first international branch of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).
MIE – Savitribai Phule Pune University, Doha, offers undergraduate programs in psychology, business administration, and computer science, with plans to introduce several new programs in the near future.
“Next year, we’re aiming to launch master’s programs, including an MBA and advanced degrees in psychology and data science,” These new courses will meet the growing needs of students and the local community in Qatar. We’re also expanding our partnerships globally to enhance the student experience,” Prof Dr. Gosavi told News Trail.
MIE – SPPU Doha welcomed Prof Dr. Gosavi along with ex-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nitin Karmalkar who visited the campus for the first time.
“This is my first visit to the Doha campus, and I’m proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time. The campus is flourishing, and we’re laying the foundation for even greater growth,” Vice Chancellor added.
“Our current campus is well-suited for the programmes we offer, but we are already planning for a larger, dedicated campus to support new initiatives and growth. This will ensure we continue to attract a diverse student body, including local Qatari students and students from other countries,” he added.
With the first graduating class set for next year, MIE – SPPU Doha is poised for continued success. “We are building a truly international university here. The recognition and global reputation of SPPU ensure that our graduates will be well-prepared to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world,” Prof Dr. Gosavi stated.
SPPU has solidified international ties with prestigious institutions such as the University of Melbourne in Australia and Drexel University in the US. These partnerships provide students with flexible options to study across different locations while earning dual degrees, aligning with India’s national education policy.
SPPU is a vast institution with 1,200 affiliated colleges and over 750,000 students and is the first state university in India that has opened a campus in a foreign country.
