Dept. of Zakat Affairs provided QR14.1m in aid during January

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced that the aid provided by the Department of Zakat Affairs during January 2023 amounted to QR 14,135,277 donated to 505 families eligible for assistance in the State of Qatar.

In this context, Head of Zakat Disbursements section Mohammed Hassan Al Tamimi affirmed Department of Zakat Affairs’ keenness to provide assistance to families deserving of Zakat funds within the State of Qatar. 

He clarified that the assistance provided by the Department is of two types. One that is provided to families monthly to help them with their needs for food, drink and housing, which amounted to QR 9,067,236. The second is a lump sum aid, which is donated to families once according to need, and amounted to QR 5,068,041. 

All the money is disbursed by the Department of Zakat Affairs to eligible and registered families in accordance with the controls, and approved mechanisms.
Al Tamimi explained that those eligible may submit a request for assistance through the Zakat Affairs Department application on smart devices.
