Colleagues and students in deep shock at the untimely death of Indian school teacher

The untimely death of Rasha Rahman (35), a teacher at Olive International School in Doha, has caused shock and grief among her students, colleagues and the community who fondly remember her as a kind and jovial person who was liked by all who knew her.

Rasha was killed while crossing the road at Thumama on her way to the gym on February 3 in the evening. She was hit by a car and died on the spot.

She hailed from Kolkata in India, she was an English teacher at the school and completed five years at the school, sources told News Trail.

Rasha had a large circle of friends in Doha as she was born and brought up in Qatar, and she studied at the MES Indian School here, sources said. 

Colleagues and friends remembered her as a kind-hearted and jovial per- son and a talented and efficient teacher who was loved by her students.

“It is with a heavy heart, we at OIS, inform you of the sad demise of our beloved teacher, Ms. Rasha Rahman on the 3rd of February 2024 in a road accident. We have been blessed by her presence in our lives and she will always be remembered by us. May her soul rest in peace,” the Olive International School management said in a message.

According to sources, a colleague of Rasha, who was returning from the gym, spotted Rasha’s mobile phone on the road and immediately recognized it as her friend’s. 

She rushed to her accommodation, where they were staying together, to inquire about her and started searching for her and came to know after a few hours about the accident and her untimely death.

“We can’t believe this and are still in a state of deep shock. She was a beloved sister and close friend to all of us, and was always happy,” a colleague, who didn’t want to be identified, told News Trail.

Rasha is survived by her husband Mr Rahman, father, mother and a brother and sister. She is the eldest child. Her husband and brother have arrived in Doha after hearing the news of her demise. She has no kids.
