Chaliyar Doha celebrates 10th anniversary

DOHA: Chaliyar Doha, a prominent environmental organization in Qatar, celebrated its 10th anniversary. The organization, formed in 2015, comprises expatriates from 24 panchayats which are located along the banks of the Chaliyar River in Malappuram and Kozhikode districts in Kerala.

Over the past decade, Chaliyar Doha has successfully organized several events related to art, sports, culture, and environment, setting an example of friendship and unity for the expatriate community.

Chaliyar Doha was established on January 11, which is also marked as the Remembrance Day of K.A. Rahman Sahib, who was the founder leader of the Chaliyar agitation who bravely fought against water and air pollution in the region.

In connection with Chaliyar Day, a special event was held at the ICC, where Chaliyar Doha Patron E A Nasser Kodiyathur delivered a lecture titled Puzha Varthamanangal (The Current Affairs of the River), commemorating K A Rahman Sahib.

Chaliyar Doha President C T Sidhique Cheruvadi presided over the event, and General Secretary Sabikhussalam Edavanna welcomed the gathering. Chief Patron Shoukathali T.A.J inaugurated the function, while Chief Advisor Zameel Abdul Vahid Chaliyam outlined the organization’s achievements over the past ten years.

Founder President V C Mashhood and Founder General Secretary Siddique Vazhakad also addressed the audience, and Treasurer Abdul Azeez Cheruvannur expressed the vote of thanks.
