Amir appreciates contributions of Indian community in Qatar

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has expressed his appreciation to the Indian community in Qatar for their contribution to the development process of Qatar.

Amir stated this in his speech at a banquet hosted in his honour during his visit to India.

“In this context, I would like to express our appreciation to the Indian community in Qatar, which plays a vital role in the development process of our country, and constitutes a social and cultural bridge be-tween the two friendly peoples,” the Amir said.

Amir said: “At the outset, I would like to thank Your Excellencies for the noble sentiments you have expressed, and to express my delight at visiting your venerable country, which has reaffirmed the strength of the friendly relations and cooperation between our two countries, and the historical dimensions of these relations, especially after 52 years of establishing diplomatic relations, which have been characterized, especially in recent years, by increasing and remarkable development, especially in the field of joint cooperation in the energy sector, with the two countries signing an important deal last year, in addition to the growth in the field of mutual trade and investments.”


The dinner banquet was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mo-hammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir and a number of businessmen.

On the Indian side, it was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ministers, senior officials and businessmen.

‘From biryani to kadak chai’: President Murmu on India-Qatar ties

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday hailed India-Qatar ties, which she said are reflected even in food, while addressing a dinner hosted by the Rashtrapati Bhavan in honour of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Murmu addressed the centuries-old interlinking of culture and traditions between the two countries.

“Our centuries-old ties are also reflected in the art, music, and food that our people prefer — whether it is biryani or ‘kadak chai’,” President Murmu said. “I hope our friends from Qatar will be able to expe-rience this unique cultural delight during today’s dinner,” she added.

“I am confident that your State Visit to India will open a new chapter in our long-standing and multifac-eted relations that will benefit our people. We value these age-old bonds of friendship and coopera-tion and look forward to further strengthening these ties,” President Murmu remarked.

In a special gesture, President Murmu welcomed and greeted Amir in front of the iconic Rampurva Bull at the steps of the Rashtrapati Bhavan forecourt.
