Indian expat dies in accident as car rams into truck

Joy Mathew (48), an Indian expat, died in a traffic accident in Qatar early Tuesday morning.

Joy was the husband of veteran journalist Sreedevi Joy, who worked in Qatar for a long time with the Malayala Manorama, a Malayalam daily.

Joy hails from Vaikom in Kottayam, Kerala.

The accident occurred around 3 a.m. on the Dukhān Highway while he was returning from Shahaniya after work. His car crashed into the rear of a truck.

He had been working in the event management sector in Qatar for the past 13 years.

His body has been kept in the mortuary of Hamad Medical Corporation’s Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital in the Industrial Area.

Repatriation procedures are being completed with the coordination of KMCC Al Ihsan Committee in Qatar, and the body will be flown to India soon.
