Poonoor Carnival held with enthusiasm

DOHA: The Poonoor Carnival, organized by the Poonoor Association for Social Services Qatar (PASS Qatar), concluded successfully at Levan Resort, Qatar.
The event, themed “A Day of Celebration for Poonoor Residents,” was marked by enthusiastic participation from community members and offered a day filled with engaging activities, competitions, and cultural programs, the organisers said.
P S Ayyoob Ali, a prominent entrepreneur, inaugurated the event. Activities were organized for children, women, and men, with participants divided into three groups.
Winners of competitions received gold and silver trophies along with other prizes. Lucky draws added to the excitement, with gifts such as travel trolley bags and an attraction of the carnival was the Poonoor Thattukada, a nostalgic recreation of a traditional village tea shop.
The cultural highlight of the event was a musical performance by the Malhar Group.
As part of the celebrations, PASS Qatar honoured notable individuals for their achievements in various fields. Business Excellence Awards were presented to entrepreneurs from Poonoor who made significant contributions in Qatar. Dr. V.O.T. Abdurahman of Al Sultan Premium Medical Centre was presented with the PASS Top Achiever Award for earning Qatar’s Permanent Residency. Wafa Rahman, who received an honorary degree from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, was recognized with the PASS Educational Excellence Award.
Other awardees included Abdul Kareem Thumbona of TMT Properties, Shabeer Shamras of JAS Group of Companies, Dr. Jamal Njarappoyil of Avenues Medical Centre, P.S. Azhar Ali of Al Abraaj Group, and Mansib Ibrahim of London Education Centre.

The event’s success was through dedicated organizing including Kalam Avelam, Shafeeq Shamras, Samseer C.P., Afnas Unnikulam, Junaid Lab, Ashiq Hafila, Mubashir Estate Mukku, Shahzad V.M., Arshad V.K., Ghafoor Kolikkal, Arif Kolikkal, Jamshi Kolikkal, Junaid A.K., and Shareef Madathumpoil. Leadership for the women’s events was by Sherin Shafeek, Farhana Junaid, Asna Samseer, Shahera Ashiq, Febina and Shifana Koiloth.
