Main contractor, first owner acquitted in Mansoura building collapse case

Qatar’s Primary Court has given its verdict in the 2023 case of the Mansoura building collapse that killed one person and injured seven.

The court has sentenced the supervising manager of the company responsible for the maintenance work of the building to five years in prison. The consultant of the company has been sentenced to three years in prison and the owner of the building has been sentenced to one year in prison, with the execution of the prison sentence suspended.

The court also imposed a QR500,000 fine on the main accused company that carried out the maintenance work and fine of QR20,000 was imposed on the owner of the building.

In a post on X, Lawyer Rashid Al-Saad said that an acquittal verdict was issued for the main contractor and the first owner of the building that collapsed.

The lawyer said that a verdict was issued acquitting his client, the main contractor and the first owner of the building, of all charges against him.

“He has been cleared of any criminal responsibility in this incident,” Al Kuwari said.

Central Doha witnessed the collapse of fourstorey Residential Building in Mansoura, in March 2023, killing one person and injuring at least seven others. The rescue work continued for a few days and several residents who were trapped inside the building were rescued.
