New scam: Beach houses on rent at attractive prices

Doha:Social media users have warned of fraudulent offers made by some accounts claiming to own beach houses in a num-ber of areas in Qatar, and offering them at attractive daily rental prices.

Al Sharq reported that many people contacted the company via WhatsApp, asking about the company’s headquarters in Qatar for reservations, and they were told that reservations were made electronically after transferring to a bank in a neighboring Gulf country.

“They were surprised by the insistence on ignoring the company’s headquarters in the country and transferring to a bank outside the country to book these beach houses electronically,” the report said.

The Ministry of Interior has warned the public against falling victim to cybercrimes or electronic fraud, with awareness advice, including not responding to messages from unknown sources on social media programs, and not responding to calls and messages from unknown sources requesting money transfers.
