Ministry of Municipality helping farms to prepare for the vegetable season

Agricultural equipment and machinery being provided to plow the land

The Ministry of Municipality is providing a wide range of support to local farms, which contributes to increasing agricultural production and achieving Qatar’s food security, Ahmed Al Yafei, Head of the Agricultural Guidance and Services Department at the Agricultural Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality, has said, Al Sharq reports.

The Ministry is currently providing agricultural machinery services to farmers, like tractors etc for preparing the land for the agricultural process.

He said the ministry is helping all farmers in plowing and preparing the land, in preparation for the local vegetable planting season, as the ministry has put all the agricultural machinery and equipment it owns to serve the farmers, in addition to renting 12 other agricultural equipment and machines.

Ahmed Al Yafei explained that if a farmer wishes to obtain assistance of these machines, he must submit a request to the external centers affiliated with the Ministry of Municipality, and the centers will send agricultural machines to the farms according to the dates and schedules set, noting that work continues all the days of the week except on Friday, in order to meet the needs of all local farms.

The external centers are spread across the country and include Rawdat Al Faras in the North, Al Mazroua in Umm Salal, in addition to Al Shahaniya Center.

Regarding other types of support provided by the Ministry to farmers, the Head of the Agricultural Guidance and Services Department pointed out that support for the vegetable planting season includes distributing vegetable seeds at very low prices, as well as distributing fertilizers and pest control at subsidized prices.
