An Indian student, Vivek Aditya from the MES Indian School Abu Hamour (MESIS) branch, has received an honorary certificate and a Diamond Excellence Award in the prestigious International Physics Olympiad 2024, held in Moscow, recently.

Vivek was part of a team of students from Qatar that had participated in the Olympiad 2024. The event, organized by the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology with support from the Russian Ministry of Education, aimed to highlight the students’ skills, abilities, and knowledge in theoretical and applied physics.

The International Physics Olympiad is considered one of the premier competitions in the field of physics worldwide. The participating team consisted of five students, who were meticulously trained by physics instructors at the Ministry of Education.

Speaking to News Trail, Aditya said, “This was my first time traveling to another country to represent Qatar. It was a great experience. The problems were undoubtedly challenging but equally fascinating, making it the most interesting exam I’ve ever taken. Getting an award on an international stage is one of the best feelings.”

Aditya won two awards – the Diamond Award, given to the best performer of each country with the most unique answers to a certain problem, and an Honorable Mention award, which was awarded to only 10 students out of 65 participants.

Aditya has already won a silver honor in the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition and will soon be traveling to the Philippines to represent Qatar at the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO).
