Saudi authorities have informed their Kuwaiti counterparts of the discovery of the body of a Kuwaiti woman who had reportedly gone missing in Saudi Arabia over the weekend, Saudi Gazette has reported.

The case of the missing Kuwaiti woman had gone viral in the media in the Gulf region and the Saudi authorities were on an intense search to find the woman.

The woman’s husband initially claimed that he had left her in a restroom on the road while they were returning from Bahrain via Saudi Arabia, but later confessed to murdering her.

Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior stated that the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Sabah received a call on Tuesday from the Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, updating him on the latest developments in the case of the missing Kuwaiti woman, whose body has been found in a desert area near Jubail, eastern Saudi Arabia.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior added that Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif “expressed his concern and direct follow-up on the case of the woman’s body found in the desert.”

The Kuwaiti husband had arrived at his country’s border with Saudi Arabia over the past weekend and informed the security authorities in Al-Ahmadi Governorate that his wife had gone missing during a restroom stop when they were traveling by land through Saudi territory. This was after the woman’s brother had reported her missing to the authorities when she did not return home with her husband.
The woman’s brother told security authorities in Al-Ahmadi that his sister’s husband had traveled with her to Bahrain by land through Saudi Arabia last Saturday but returned without her.

The husband was arrested and, during two days of interrogation, confessed to killing his wife in a desert area in eastern Saudi Arabia, where her body was found by Saudi security authorities. The motive behind the crime is not known yet.
