DoM-Qatar organizes Malhaar 2024, honours long-staying expats

Diaspora of Malappuram (DoM-Qatar) celebrated Malhar 2024 in connection with the district’s Formation Day.

The event, held at the Ashoka Hall of Indian Cultural Center, was inaugurated by ICC President A P Manikandan.

Renowned writer and Kerala Sahitya Academy Award winner K P Ramanunni delivered the keynote address. At the ceremony, the organisers honoured expatriates from Malappuram district who have completed 42 years of residence in Qatar.

DoM Qatar Secretary Suresh Babu welcomed the gathering, and President Usman Kallan presided over the event. Chief Advisor Mashood V C, Treasurer Ratheesh Kakkov, Program Finance Committee Chairman Siddique Vazhakad, and Program Committee Convener Siddique Cheruvalloor were present.

Former ICC President P.N. Baburajan and DoM Qatar Patron Dr. Hamza Suwaidi extended their greetings. M.T. Nilambur, Ashraf (Indian Hypermarket), Dr. Mustafa Haji, Dr. Amanullah Vadakkangara, Radio Malayalam CEO and DOM Patron Anwar Husain, ICBF General Secretary Varkey Boban, and ISC General Secretary Nihad Ali also attended the ceremony.

Famous singer Shafi Kollam, singers Muhammed Thoyyib, Hana Thoyyib, Shibin, Megha, Hiba Shamna, and Prashobh presented a musical feast that captivated the audience.

Media Wing Chairman Noufal Kattuppara, Food Committee Chairman Unnimoyin, Yusuf Panchili, Sreedharan Kottakkal, Anees Babu, Sreejith CP, Saleem Rose, Dr Shafeeq Thappi, Aneesh, Nisar, Nasser, Ashraf Nannamukku, Ramshid, Shaji P.C., Ashraf, Shahanas Babu, Ramzi, along with DoM Students Wing Junior Organizers, coordinated by Nabsha Mujeeb, efficiently managed the crowd.

Under the leadership of Program Director Abi Chungathara, the cultural programs that started at 4:30pm were successfully conducted. The organizers who worked tirelessly to ensure the event’s success were honoured with mementos and certificates by Women’s Wing Treasurer Raziya Usman, General Convener Shamla Jaffer, Secretary Soumya Pradeep, Maimoona Zainuddin Thangal, Muhsina Sameel, Sana, Faeza and Rinsha.
