Minister issues circular on dress code for Qatari employees

Non-Qatari female employees must wear appropriate suits and avoid wearing short, tight-fitting clothes and bright colours.

The Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs has issued a circular regarding regulations for uniforms and general appearance during working hours and when attending official events, Al Sharq reports.

The circular called on ministries, other government agencies, public bodies and institutions to take appropriate measures to ensure that their employees adhere to the regulations regarding uniforms and public appearance.

The regulations have prescribed the dress code for Qatari males, females and non-Qatari females.
The dress code for Qatari men are as follows:

Summer season

Morning period (from morning to afternoon prayer)
White ghutra
White bisht
White dress
Mid-day period (from Asr prayer to Maghrib prayer)
White ghutra
Bisht blonde
White dress
Evening period (from after the Maghrib prayer until the end of the day)
White ghutra
Black bisht
White dress

Winter season

Morning period (from morning to afternoon prayer)
Ghutra Shawl
Winter white bisht
Wool dress – dark color
Mid-day period (from after Asr prayer to Maghrib prayer)
Ghutra Shawl
Bisht winter blonde
Wool dress – dark color
Evening period (from after the Maghrib prayer until the end of the day)

The sleeve of the dress is open (hadad) and the dress has a collar with one button in the shape of the number 8. Choose a formal shoe that suits the Qatari dress and is compatible with official tasks and occasions, and avoid wearing sports shoes, the circular said.

Qatari female employees are expected to wear the traditional Qatari abaya and head covering in an appropriate manner and non-Qatari female employees should wear appropriate work suits and must strictly avoid wearing short, tight-fitting clothes and bright colours, and make-up must be normal and not excessive.
