A passenger has died on board a Malaysian Airlines flight to Doha. The Doha-bound flight from Kuala Lumpur made an emergency landing at the Chennai airport in India following a medical emergency, Air Live has reported.

On Wednesday, June 12 2024, the Malaysian Airlines flight was heading to Doha with 254 passengers on board. After two hours into the flight, a 54-year-old passenger, who was travelling with his family, suffered severe chest pain.

As soon as the pilot was informed, the crew contacted ATC and requested an emergency landing in the nearest Airport, the report says.

After the permission was granted, the flight landed in the Chennai airport at 12.50 am. A waiting medical team rushed inside aircraft but the Malaysian passenger already died due to a cardiac arrest.
Immigration officials arranged an emergency visa for his family members and the body was sent to post-mortem building, while the flight resumed to Doha at around 2.30 am, the report adds.
