Qatar appoints first ambassador to Bahrain in seven years

Qatar has appointed an ambassador to Bahrain for the first time in seven years and since the end of the Qatar blockade, marking a new chapter in the relations between the two Gulf countries.

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued on Wednesday Amiri decision No. 52 of 2024, appointing Sultan Ali Yousef Mohammed Al Khater as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Al Khater was among four ambassadors appointed by Amir yesterday.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Zayed Saeed Rashid Al Kumait Al Khayareen was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Tunisia and Saud Abdullah Zaid Al Mahmoud was appointed as Ambassador to the Republic of Poland.

The decisions are effective starting from their date of issue, and are to be published in the official gazette.
