Tourism sector expected to generate more than 200,000 jobs in five years

Tourism sector is expected to provide more than 200,000 jobs during the next five years according to Qatar Vision 2030, which reflects government programs and plans to sustain the tourism sector, including the need to support private sector initiatives in the sector, a member of the Shura Council has said.

Speaking in ‘Economy Talk’ programme on Qatar Radio,. Mohammed bin Youssef Al Mana, Member of the Shura Council and Chairman of the Council’s Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, affirmed the committee’s keenness to present proposals to enhance development in various vital fields and sectors in the country, including the tourism sector that was recently discussed at the Council.

Al Mana stressed the importance of the unified tourist visa project of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in enhancing tourism sector. He said they would work to ensure that cruises in the Arabian Gulf region are in line with what exists in Qatar.

He also spoke of plans to facilitate the submission of requests for holding parties and events services through standardizing procedures that contribute to enhancing the sustainability of the tourism sector.
