Don’t answer calls from unknown foreign numbers, CRA warns residents

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CMA) has warned residents against answering calls from unknown international numbers.

“Be careful if you receive a missed call from an unknown international number, it could be a scam or a way to hack your phone. Avoid calling back,” the CRA said on X.

The CRA message is part of regular warnings issued to residents but they also come after some residents fall victim to scamsters.

Banks also have issued warnings to customers against sharing their personal information to strangers through mobile phones.
