The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has acted swiftly after receiving information of a sinkhole in the Sealine area.

The ministry took swift action after a video was shared widely on social media showing a hole covered by a plastic sheet. The Ministry officials rushed to the spot and quickly cordoned off the area.

Al-Sharq had published a video of a citizen’s appeal to the concerned authorities to intervene, and it showed a deep hole in the ground at the end of one of the roads in the Sealine area, covered with a plastic sheet, and it appears to cover a water well.

Citizen Abu Fahd appealed to the authorities to intervene and close it tightly, because it poses a danger to people and vehicles, as he put it, explaining that it is very close to the main road.

The ministry said it took action out of its keenness to protect visitors to the area and vehicles.

‘The Sealine Unit, affiliated with the Ministry’s Natural Reserves Department, is also taking the necessary measures to close the hole and completely secure the area,’ MoECC said in a social media post on Saturday.
