Labour Ministry shuts 10 recruitment offices for violating laws

DOHA: The Ministry of Labour has cancelled the licences of 10 foreign recruitment agencies due to their violation of rules and regulations governing recruitment of manpower, Al Sharq reports.

 The Ministry carries out periodic inspection campaigns at recruitment offices to ensure their compliance with the labour law. It is also working to develop the mechanisms to assess the recruitment of domestic workers within the framework of the law.

The Ministry confirmed that the inspections it carries out on recruitment offices are part of its efforts to continuously monitor recruitment offices.

An official explained that the inspection teams, through their visits, ensure that the new forms of recruitment contracts for domestic workers are used in accordance with the provisions of the law to extend the guarantee, in addition to ensuring compliance with the recruitment charges according to the prices set for the recruitment of domestic workers.

The Ministry of Labour has also set up channels for direct communication to receive complaints from the public, including a hotline or e-mail.

The Ministry has called on all citizens and residents to report any violations by domestic worker recruitment offices regarding the implementation of the decision to extend warranty or the decision to limit prices.

The Ministry of Labour confirmed that it will firmly act against anyone who neglects to implement the obligations stipulated in the law, regulations and instructions. It will intensify its inspection campaigns on recruitment offices and will take legal measures against anyone who violates the laws and decisions.
