Eidiya ATMs set up by QCB to distribute currencies of smaller denominations for Eid

DOHA: Citizens and residents flocked to obtain ‘Eid change’ from Eidiya ATMs, which the Qatar Central Bank had set up on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr to obtain currencies in denominations of ‘5 riyals, 10 riyals, 50 and 100 riyals’.

The Eidiya ATMs have been set up to distribute currencies of smaller denominations for elders to distribute cash as gifts to children during Eid Al Fitr.

The Qatar Central Bank has identified 10 locations for Eidiya ATMs, which are: Doha Festival City Mall of Qatar, Place Vendôme, Al Khor Mall, Al Hazm Mall, Al Mirqab Mall, Al Wakrah Old Souq, Doha West Walk, Al Meera – Muaither, Al Meera – Al Thumama

Each ATM will distribute a specific type of banknotes. Available Denomination are QAR 5, QAR 10, QAR 50 and QAR 100.

A report in Al Raya said the Central Bank’s initiative to provide Eid change through ATMs received praise from customers, who said taking this gesture during the blessed days that precede the celebration of Eid al-Fitr is a good one.

They said that increasing the number of ATMs for obtaining change prevents overcrowding.

“Eid is an occasion that makes children and adults happy. We always make sure to go to banks to exchange large denomination banknotes for small denomination to give them as Eid gifts to children of relatives, friends and neighbours. The amounts that children receive from their families range between 50-100 riyals and may reach 50 riyals. to 500 riyals, while the young man receives amounts that usually range from 100 to more than 500 riyals,” said the report.
