DOHA: The Ministry of Interior has released a new awareness video to encourage safe driving habits in residential neighbourhoods.

The Ministry published the video through its account on the social media.

The Ministry of Interior said that adherence to safe driving requirements in residential neighbourhoods maintains safety and prevents run-over accidents.

The video shows a young driver, who is driving through a residential neighbourhood, telling his mother on the phone that he would reach home in five minutes. “Yes Mom, I’ll be there in five minutes,” he says.

He then checks his phone in a moment of carelessness and while taking a turn, runs over a child who was standing on the road, whom he didn’t see.

“Adhering to safe driving practices in residential areas maintains safety and prevents pedestrian accidents,” the video says, with subtitles in English.

“Ensure the safety of neighbourhood residents and yourself by practicing safe driving habits in residential areas,” it adds.

The Ministry has always advised the public to avoid speeding or hasty driving, especially within residential neighborhoods and at intersections, while anticipating the mistakes of others to avoid being run over in accidents.
