Qatar a pioneer in empowering women, says Nada Zeidan

Doha: Qatar has been a pioneer in supporting female athletes and made significant strides in providing opportunities for women to participate in all fields, Nada Zeidan, has said.
Nada was addressing INSPIRE 2024, an event held to celebrate the International Women’s Day at the Sheraton Grand Doha on Friday by News Trail.
“Qatar is a place where women have made extraordinary achievements and have become role models including in sports, education, career, and all other fields,” Nada said addressing a packed gathering of invited guests who included representatives of leading women’s organisations in Qatar.
The INSPIRE 2024 was organized to salute women changemakers as well as women’s organizations in Qatar for their exceptional contributions to society and women’s empowerment.
The chief guest for the event was Nada Zeidan. She was the first Arab female to compete in the archery competition in the 14th Asian Games and also the first female Arab rally driver.
Four women changemakers and achievers were felicitated at the event for their exceptional works for the community and the country. They are Laalei Abu Alfai, a social activist in the field of public work and support to non-governmental organizations, and Executive Director of Shafallah Center for Persons with Disability; Dr Khudsia Begum, a leading and veteran gynecologist in the country; Dr.Kaltham Jaber Al Kawari, a Qatari writer and poet who is considered a pioneer among women writers in the country; and Leila Smati, one of the members who founded the women’s sports association with her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and she is the first Arabic sports commentator and part of the team that launched Al Jazeera News in sports department.
Dr.Fayaz Ahmed MD, Cardiac Surgeon at King Fahd Hospital in Saudi Arabia & Director of News Trail Qatar, welcomed the gathering, which was followed by an introduction about News Trail by Hussain Ahmad, Executive Editor. Anu Sharma, well-known presenter, influencer and media professional, hosted the event.
