Overgrazing, straying camels will be seized, Ministry warns owners

Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has announced that it will start extensive inspection campaigns to detect violations of overgrazing by camels and find out cases of camels straying into non-designated areas.

The campaigns will start on Sunday.

The Ministry has requested all camel owners to follow the rules, cooperate and take care not to free their camels into prohibited areas and refrain from grazing in order to preserve the plant environment in the country.

The Ministry has also warned that violations will be dealt with strictly. 

Stray camels and those found violating the law will be seized and housed in the pens designated for them, and legal measures will be taken against their owners in accordance with Law No. (9) of 1974 regarding neglected animals, the MoECC has said.
