Doha: Al Jazeera’s correspondent in the Gaza Strip, Ismail Abu Omar, arrived in Doha on a Qatari medical evacuation plane for treatment after his leg was amputated following an Israeli attack.

Al Jazeera reported that its correspondent in Khan Yunis arrived in Doha to continue treatment.

Doctors at the European Gaza Hospital, southeast of Khan Yunis, had warned of life-threatening complications for Ismail Abu Omar after he underwent a third surgery on Friday evening.

During the last operation, doctors treated the wounds in the left leg, in addition to repairing the tendons in the left ankle.

He needs specialized medical care amid fears of infections due to his serious wounds and lacerations in his arteries and veins.
