Ministry launches ‘My Sustainable School’ Initiative

Doha: In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Municipality launched an initiative titled ‘My Sustainable School’.

Started by Al Rayyan Municipality, UNESCO Global Network of Learning cities member, the initiative targets 200 male and female students from 15 primary schools, to engage them in the recycling process, in an effort to meet the goal of the Zero Waste Campaign to permanently prevent waste accumulation.

This in turn would serve the Ministry of Municipality’s sustainable development strategy to spread a culture of recycling by instilling in young school students the efficient use of resources for their benefit and that of future generations, in achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The 1st phase of the initiative deals with recycling plastic caps, containers, and discarded paper, transforming them into art work and using them to grow seedlings.
